Le Bon Roi

Good King René was a well-loved character in the history of Provence.  He was responsible for bringing many of the lovely things we enjoy in our little French lives here in Aix:  culture, wine-growing and apparently an all-round good nature.

He was my favorite in the parade...but more for his hypnotic style of dancing in the street.

Oh yeah...he was my very favorite!

I'm Late, I'm Late...For A Very Important Date...

'Twas le Carnaval in the 'hood today.  Aix celebrates Carnaval as late in the season as this angel was for the parade...which is to say, "very"!

In fact, as late as I've been recently with posts!  Je m'excuse...more from le Carnaval tomorrow!

French Laundry

The cards for this month have arrived!

This month brings a little twist on Spring Cleaning...the theme for April being French Spring Laundry!

As always, each is individually signed (matching ivory envelope included) and a set of five is tied with a ribbon and a sprig of lavender from Provence before it's tucked into the envelope to be sent on its voyage to you.

And here's a great idea!  The last few orders have been gift orders, with the sets being sent to a lucky recipient directly from France.  Something to keep in mind for any Francophiles on your list...or, in this case, people who like French laundry!

From a peek outside my kitchen window...

...to a sunny balcony in Nice...

...everything from delicates...

...to petite French linens are being put out to dry this month.

Here's hoping that even your laundry days are happy ones!

Each set of 5 notecards (with envelopes) is only 25€ (postage to anywhere in the world is included).

Cards measure 19.5 cm x 14 cm (approximately 7.5 inches x 5.5 inches) and are individually signed by yours truly.

Lovely as a gift or to keep handy for the elegant notes sent now and again as thanks, welcome, celebration or just to stay in touch in a very fashionable manner.

Ordering is easy!  PayPal is available for easy payment and if you have a PayPal account, as soon as you tap in your password information, the rest of the process loads in English!  Whew!  Just click right here:

And just a note: ask any number of 'card-carrying' followers of La Fourchette about the suitability of framing these lovelies.  (I've already heard from them so I know the answer:  definitely frame-able!)

Gotta run...my own French laundry awaits!

Wednesday Window on Provence - Self Portrait

In our portraiture exploration, I just assigned my impressively adventurous students (I love them - and they really do impress me!) to do a self-portrait.  Since I wouldn't ask them to do something I wouldn't do, I thought it fitting to take my own assignment and update mine.  If you've never done one, it's an interesting process...just ask my students!

Reflections are easy when the spring sunshine is filling our little corner of the world.  Today...err...not so much.  Rain in the 'hood.  But nothing like what happened in Texas yesterday...lordy, lordy!  I hope all of our friends in the mighty state of Texas are okay and finding their way through yesterday's whopper storm!

Yours...in the window...

A Little Musical Interlude...And A Huge Favor To Ask

Oh my!  Is It April Already??!

Just a little hiccup!  Those pesky spinning plates took a tumble...but one foot in front of the other, things should be up and running shortly.

In the meantime, today's post offers a little jazz concert for your listening viewing pleasure...

...and a huge favor to ask:

The instacanvas folks are opening galleries according to votes/requests artists receive.  You can help me out by going to this link:  instacanv.as/lafourchette   then vote for my gallery to be opened.

When you click on that link, it will open a page where you'll see a big yellow button that says, "Request Gallery Opening".  Click that and you're done!  Well...all except for my heartfelt thanks for supporting my yet-to-be-opened gallery!  (Curtsy here.)

Hope your week is off to a great start.  Thanks for hanging in there while I picked up plates.

Yours, with my nose pressed to the window of my yet-to-be-opened gallery,
leslie
